Beautiful Cornish festival wedding Bride and groom in a field with beautiful landscape

From Hertfordshire to Cornwall!

As a wedding photographer usually based in Hertfordshire, there’s something truly magical about heading down to Cornwall for a Cornish festival wedding. Indeed, I love the dramatic coastline, golden beaches, and wild moorlands that offer a dreamy, bohemian backdrop. It feels a world away from the everyday. Cornwall’s natural beauty brings an effortless charm and freedom that perfectly suits the laid-back, joyful vibe of a festival-style celebration. Whether you’re dancing barefoot under festoon lights or saying your vows with the sea breeze in your hair, the whole place has this soul-stirring energy. It’s just made for love stories.

What makes a Cornish festival wedding so special is how seamlessly you can blend nature, music, and personal touches into something truly unforgettable. Think bell tents under the stars, local food trucks, and live acoustic sets as the sun dips behind the cliff. It’s got that relaxed, ‘do it your way’ feel that couples (and photographers!) absolutely adore. It’s a dream to capture. Honestly, there’s no better place to throw a wedding that feels like an adventure from start to finish.

Woodland Valley

Thai and Josh’s Cornish festival wedding was definitely a day to remember.  Admittedly, all of the weddings I photograph are fun-packed and have their special moments. However, this was different from any other wedding I’ve photographed.  The wedding was held at Woodland Valley. It’s a completely organic working farm set in the most amazing Cornish countryside near Laddock. The ceremony, set in a magical-looking glen in a patch of nearby woodland, was lovely.

The Weather Played Ball!

Thai’s Cornish festival wedding was held in early September. It was just after the end of the blistering hot summer, and when the weather had turned into bursts of daily torrential rain. It’s true when they say you cannot book the weather! I honestly expected this to be the first wedding I had shot with the bride wearing wellies! However, my misapprehensions were, thankfully, misplaced! It seems Thai and Josh had put a good word in somewhere! We enjoyed a beautiful sunny day, and it was mostly mud-free.

A Relaxed Vibe All Round

From the moment Thai started making her way along the lantern-lit woodland trail to the timber-framed ceremony room, the day began to buzz. Almost two hundred guests arrived for her woodland ceremony, which started early, at 11 am. During the magical ceremony, her guests sat on Hay bales and watched on, enchanted as she tied the knot with Josh. It really did have an amazing ethereal feel to it.

In terms of my style, this wedding was perfect for relaxed wedding photography. There was plenty to think about, with a lot of candid shots, couple shots, and the obligatory groups of family and friendsThroughout the day, there was a string of live bands and a stunning selection of street food from around the world. I felt spoilt for choice in terms of subject matter and style.

This turned out to be a very long day, but it was truly magical.

Have Camera – Will Travel

I’m always happy to travel outside of Hertfordshire for weddings like these. Whether you’re planning a beach ceremony, a clifftop party, or a festival-style weekend with all your favourite people, I’d love to be there. Alternatively, you may be planning a classic wedding at a grand country house or castle. Whatever your chosen location or theme, I’d be honoured to capture every moment for you. Why not send me a message (click on the link) to discuss your wedding plans? I’d love to chat about your vision.
