As a wedding photographer, I’ve been lucky enough to shoot at a wide range of venues across Hertfordshire. However, one that really stood out to me recently was Brickendon Grange Wedding venue. I had the pleasure of photographing Sunny and Mike’s November wedding there last year. It turned out to be a fun, relaxed, and intimate wedding.
Tucked away just outside Hertford, Brickendon Grange is a charming country house venue. It is set within a gorgeous golf course. Built in 1859, the mansion (now the Clubhouse) was home to several families during its 1st 100-year history. In 1964, the entire estate was sold at auction. It was bought by the 16 original founding members of Brickendon Grange Golf Club. It’s a beautiful, hidden gem that’s versatile and caters for small to medium, intimate weddings, and that’s exactly why I like it. Brickendon Grange wedding venue strikes a lovely balance between elegance and warmth.
A Winter Wedding
The weather held out for Sunny and Mike’s wedding. It was dull, but dry. As a photographer, I don’t mind working in these conditions because they help to create some delightful images with a true sense of atmosphere. I certainly didn’t have to contend with harsh shadows or guests squinting in the sunlight.

The Ceremony
Brickendon Grange wedding venue offers two rooms in which weddings can be held. The ceremony took place in the Oak Room. This is the original dining room for the manor house. The panelling, chandelier, and beautiful floral arch all contributed to a stylish wedding ceremony. The room was filled with joy and laughter. Consequently, I had a great opportunity to capture some candid shots of the bride and groom as they exchanged their wedding rings. (See below.)
Photos for the Album
Following the ceremony, we used the imposing backdrop of the manor for a selection of more formal family and friends photos. Then, Sunny, Mike, and I disappeared into the golf course for a few stunning couple shots. Whilst Sunny and Mike travelled in style, I jogged along beside them, camera in hand. (See below.) I loved the decoration that was applied to the golf cart they used. Naturally, it’s these little details that make Brickendon Grange wedding venue so special.

The Reception
The wedding breakfast took place in The Grange Suite. This is an addition to the original building created in 2019. Elegantly decorated in the theme colours, with delightful vases of ‘Baby’s Breath’, or to be more technical, Gypsophila, the room was spacious and airy. The speeches brought more laughter and a few tears, the cake was cut, and the bouquet was thrown!
A key point to note at this stage is that the Grange Suite in the Brickendon Grange wedding venue is fully self-contained. For example, it offers a private bar, bathrooms, and a patio that has stunning views across the Hertfordshire countryside. As a result, we didn’t get any golfers strolling into shot! I always think having the whole venue to yourself is a real plus!
Night-time Fun
As the night remained dry, Sunny and Mike stepped outside to walk through a sparkling guard of honour, formed by their lovely guests. In addition to this, they enjoyed a champagne spray and toast! I love creating these fun moments with my couples; it’s all about filling your special day with memories.
I stayed just long enough to capture a little of the dancing before it was time for me to pack my bags and disappear into the cold November night. But, what a day! I never get tired of being part of such a special event. Additionally, I always take my own special memories away after each wedding I am privileged to photograph.
I love being at Brickendon Grange wedding venue too, and I’m happy to recommend it to any future couples. Let’s explore why…

Value for Money & Service That Delivers
One of the things I really appreciated about Brickendon Grange Wedding venue was how well everything ran on the day. From the friendly staff to the seamless food service. It was clear the team here knows how to take care of weddings without making it feel like a production line. Sunny and Mike were thrilled with the level of service. Indeed, it genuinely made the day feel relaxed and enjoyable for everyone involved.
Considering the high quality of the venue, food, and staff, I think it offers really good value for money. This is particularly true in a county where wedding prices can sometimes be eye-watering. If you would like to see their wedding day price packages, please click the link.
A Perfect Fit for Smaller Celebrations
Sunny and Mike had around 60 guests, and the venue felt like a perfect fit. However, the venue will hold up to 132 guests for a formal wedding breakfast. The layout allowed for a beautiful indoor ceremony followed by a relaxed drinks reception, all without the need for guests to traipse across different parts of a sprawling estate.
Brickendon Grange wedding venue does offer flexibility, however. For even smaller weddings, the Oak Room can be used for the wedding breakfast, seating 32 guests. Likewise, if you want a larger wedding, the Grange Suite will hold up to 200 guests for a buffet.

Space for Fun and Creativity
Brickendon Grange wedding venue offers plenty of spaces to get creative with photos. We had an absolute blast shooting the champagne spray shots outside. (I always bring a bottle or two just for photos to every wedding I shoot!). Naturally, for weddings on warm sunny days, you also have the open spaces around the venue. Therefore, it’s perfect for providing flexibility to make the most of those fun, candid moments without feeling like you’re in someone else’s way.
Picture-Perfect Couple Shots
One of the standout features at Brickendon Grange Wedding venue is access to the golf course, and it’s absolutely worth using if you want those wide, scenic couple shots. The rolling greens and tree-lined paths create such a dreamy backdrop, especially in the late pale winter light. Sunny and Mike were brave enough to venture out with me (in style, of course) even in the chill of November, and we captured some truly stunning images.
Easy to Get To
Practical things matter too, and Brickendon Grange ticks those boxes as well. It’s easy to find (no obscure back roads or winding country lanes), and there’s plenty of parking for guests, which is a huge bonus. Your guests will appreciate that more than you might think and overnight parking is free too!
Final Thoughts on Brickendon Grange Wedding Venue
If you’re looking for a wedding venue in Hertfordshire that offers charm, great service, and a welcoming atmosphere without blowing the budget, Brickendon Grange Wedding venue is well worth a visit. Sunny and Mike’s November wedding was full of love, laughter, and personal touches, with the venue playing a big role in making the day feel so special.
